Is Mamaearth an Indian Brand

Yes. Mamaearth is an Indian beauty and personal care brand, founded in 2016 by Varun Alagh and Ghazal Alagh. It is the flagship brand of Honasa Consumer Limited, an Indian company based in Gurugram and listed on the BSE and NSE.

Mamaearth Brand Overview

Mamaearth started as a direct-to-consumer baby care brand. It grew into face care, hair care, body care, baby care and colour cosmetics. It promotes “toxin-free” products with nature-inspired ingredients at accessible prices, and describes itself as Asia’s first brand with Made Safe certified products. Honasa says it is the largest digital-first beauty and personal care company in India, with an omni-channel presence across 750+ districts. Mamaearth is the main revenue driver for Honasa, but the company has been building other brands to reduce that dependence.

Origin

Varun and Ghazal Alagh could not find toxin-free baby products in India when they became parents in 2016. Varun brought FMCG experience and Ghazal had an entrepreneurial background. Together they launched Mamaearth as a natural baby care brand with international standards. It later expanded into skin and hair care, and the range grew from six to about 140 products in the first few years. Mamaearth grew quickly through digital marketing and social media. It then moved into offline retail.
